Come together.
Geneviève Gauckler’s colourful character reference at Kemistry

For this show, ‘Digitally Isolated’, Gauckler has focused completely on the quirky characters she has become known for. and I was surprised how much she had simplified things, with strong, bright colour and playful shapes.

Gauckler says she is ‘not really connected with the art world,’ and that her work is closer to illustration and decoration. However this exhibition was closer to a personal art project than her other work.
All the work – a mixture of screen prints and paintings – was available to buy, either as limited-edition prints, or one-off original work.

‘Digitally Isolated’continues until 19 December 2009.
Eye is available from all good design bookshops and online at the Eye shop. For a taste of the magazine, try Eye before you buy.

I slept in a room painted by Geneviève, in Copenhagen’s Hotel Fox, and totally fell for her menagerie of monsters, some of which are more friendly than others.
They peeked out from behind the curtains, scurried along the skirting boards and loomed over the bed; they actually turned up in my dreams too!
Am looking forward to seeing the show….
